Week 41: Food poisening... not super fun

Yeah, so I totally got food poisoning this week. Well yesterday, as a matter of fact. I’ll give you more details later in the email about how (not) super fun that was, haha

So this week was really good. WE HAD OUR BAPTISM OF EMILIO THIS WEEK!!!!!!!!! As baptisms usually go, it was super stressful just making sure that everything was functioning. When we got to the church building like an hr early to make sure prepare, we looked in the font, AND IT HADNT BEEN FILLED!!!! Thank goodness we got there early and thank heavens that the church building is up to date and the water spicket was super-fast. It filled up in like half an hr... But it was cold water which really sucked bc Emilio’s little sister was getting baptized too and she’s just 8 yrs old. She was freezing when she was getting baptized. I felt really bad but I brought my blow dryer so we helped warm her up. But yeah, Emilio is soo amazing, I love the kid. He reminds me of Sam a lot bc they are the same age and he just acts like Sam would with this manner of speech and movement. I just love him soo much. And he’s going to church every week, has friends, and is basically acting like he grew up in church his whole life. He’s even talking to us about serving a mission when he turns 18!!! I just can’t wait for it! We almost have his step dad baptized. But hey, we are hoping that in 2 weeks, he’s in the font!!!!

Let’s see, what else happened this week??? We had a multi Zone Conference this week and I totally got to see my mish mom again, Hna. Smith. We have the cutest pic of us that I’ll send to you. She goes home in 6 weeks!!! Ahh, I can’t believe it.

We are STILL living with the other sisters and we totally got planched for not finding a house in this transfer. But hey, we just found one today so we are hoping to be in it by the end of the week.

So Sunday night we were in another mtg with other missionaries and all that jazz and I wasn’t really feeling all that great. I got home that night and went straight to bed after planning. Yeah, well I woke up at 2 in the morning, sat up, (thankfully there was a trash can by me) and started to throw up. It was awful. For the next 1 and a half, I threw up like 4 more times. I was running a fever of 100. By 3 we had called a member that lived by to give me a blessing and thankfully his wife is almost done with her nursing practices so she helped me bring down my fever. This is my first time ever being sick in the mission and it sucked but Heavenly Father knew that I would be okay bc I have the best companion in the whole entire world who literally took care of me every second. She is soo amazing. I’m soo blessed to be with her right now. And yeah, so I woke up Monday morning at 9 and started to throw up some more and so we went to the hospital but by then I had stopped throwing up and all they told me was to take some medication and that it was just running through my system. And yeah. That was how I spent my Monday, yesterday. Don’t worry, I’m all better and I feel great today. So I’m back to normal!!

This morning I got to go to the temple again!!! We get to go once every month and can do one ordinance. It was really good to be there and was waaayyy cool to do it in Spanish!! So next month I get to do my first session in Spanish!!

And yeah, that was my week! Pics coming soon!

I love you all and hope y’all stay warm!!! It’s getting pretty hot here. I can’t even wear my hair down anymore :(

Week 40: OOHHHH... IM HALF WAY THERE... OOOOHHHHH... LIVIN ON A PRAYER... hehe

YEAH, it’s official. I’VE HIT NINE MONTHS!!!! It’s crazy to think that I’m already half way done with the mission. Sometimes it feels like I’ve been here forever and at others it feels like I just got here. But heavenly father has blessed me in this time of the mission to be with my best friends, my companion and HNA Siufanua. I’m just loving my time here.

So... it was a pretty normal week here. Again. Sorry, it’s just not as exciting here. I’m still living in the house with the other Sisters.. Oh and Richard, btw, your apartment that you live in with the other Elders is wayy bigger than the house we are living in. Yeah, you’re pretty much spoiled up there.

So something that happened this week that was not fun at all is we were getting ready to teach our golden investigator when all of a sudden we hear this awful heart breaking sound of a suffering animal. Emilio, the kid we are teaching, gets up and looks down the street and two houses down, there is a dog basically dying bc another dog has a death grip on his throat and the dog was just wailing and wailing. It was soo horrible sounding and something that I never want to ever experience ever again. But that’s just how it is in Mexico. The dogs here run free in the streets. it’s really sad and heart breaking and I’m glad that Sam’s not here to see the dogs here. He would probably cry.

Well, on that lovely sad little note, something SUPER exciting is EMILIO IS GETTING BAPTIZED!!!!!!! I’m super stoked. It’s going to be super special bc his uncle is coming home from the mission on Weds, and is going to baptize him. Literally this kid is amazing. He’s 14 yrs old and loves everything about the gospel and has been going out with us on visits and is amazing in the lessons. He’s practically a missionary, haha. But we are trying to get his "step dad" (I say it that way bc Emilio’s mom and him aren’t married) baptized on the same day bc he’s ready too, and that’s what we are going to do tonight is talk with him and get things figured out. But yeah, I can’t wait to send pics of the baptism next week.

Welp, that’s about it for this week. I hope you all are doing well and know that I love and miss you. From here on out, it’s just a downhill go, so the time should fly by fast.

love ya!!

Week 39: Just a boring week...and Happy Valentines Day!!

Weeeelllll...... This week’s letter isn’t going to be super special and it’s going to be boring bc nothing really happened. Sorry, it was just one of those boring missionary weeks.

So we’ve been finding some pretty awesome investigators that basically seem ready to be baptized, but they wouldn’t accept the baptism date that we tried putting with them. But hey, 2 of them did come to church so we will hopefully get them set on a date this week and then they’re one the way to salvation!! yayyy!

We are still living with the other sisters (hehe I love it!) but we have literally walked every single sinking street in our area and there are absolutely no houses to rent. So yeah, we are kinda stuck as to what to do, but hey, I’m not complaining. It’s super fun living with my besties.

And bc I don’t know what else to write, I’m just going to talk about the weather. So it’s been pretty cold. Not super cold like before, but cool with the wind. so ive been able to wear my hair down more this week and give it a break from wearing it in a ponytail all week. #sismishlife #itssofreakinghotinmerida

Okay I just realized that this letter is getting even lamer. So I’m closing with a ye haw. Pics are coming soon and just know that i love you all.

OH, I ALMOST FORGOT!!! I HIT MY HALF WAY POINT ON VALENTINES DAYYYY!!!!!

Oh! HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE!!! You all have my heart :)

Week 38: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!At the temple at 4 a.m.!

WELL, its official guys..... IM TWENTY YEARS OLD. I feel like an old lady... waaahhhh....
eh, oh well.

Well this week was filled of all sorts of eventful happenings.

Tuesday I got to go to the temple at 4 in the morning. I only got 2 hrs of sleep that night, but I’ll tell you that it wouldn’t have mattered if I didn’t even sleep at all. It was TOTALLY worth it. And it was super fun bc I’m with my best friends during all of it. I’ll tell you that it was such an amazing and spiritual experience that Heavenly Father has given me. it was such an experience that I can’t describe with words and am forever grateful for. But yeah, there’s that.

Then yesterday was my bday!! It was super fun, and honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better bday than to spend it sweating and working for the Lord in Mexico. I love it here. So for an amazing bday gift that Heavenly Father gave me was 5 (did ya hear that? 5!) investigators in the church and 1 progressing who will be baptized on the 18th by his brother who is coming home from the mission. Yeah, I’m super pumped. We have planned at least 4 baptisms this transfer and more to come. I just love it here. And the ward is freaking huge! Not as big as our ward back home, but compared to Izamal, there’s a ton of ppl and I love it bc they do activities. so yeah, needless to say we are super excited to be working here in this ward.

We still haven’t found a house yet, but I’m not complaining bc I love living with my two other Sisters. It soo much fun! Even though the house is super tiny and we all have to share a tiny bathroom... it’s still a blast!

So yesterday, my companion, Hna Frost totally surprised me last night. So we had finished the day and were heading back home and when I walked into the door of the house, there was a surprise "party" waiting for me! the other 2 sisters had come back to the house early to cook hamburgers (can’t remember how to spell that... awk.) and they had bought a strawberry cheesecake (which was super delicious) and they had all gotten me a card and a t-shirt that says "I Heart Merida" like one of those classic NYC t-shirts. So yeah, needless to say, I loved my first and (probably) only bday here in Mexico.

Well, that pretty much describes my crazy week I had. Pics are coming soon!
I love you all and thanks soo much for all the bday emails that I got.

Talk to yall next week!
