Week 76: Only 2 more weeks....

It’s been a little hard to accept the fact that I only have 2 more weeks left in beautiful Maxcanu. On top of that, it’s been even harder bc my comp and I have both been sick so much these past couple of weeks that I feel like out of the month we have only been able to work like 2 full weeks which makes the time feel like its flying by wayy too fast... ehhh...

I don’t know why but my brain is confused and is still thinking that I still have like a month left in the mission. Today my comp told me that we started week 5 in the transfer and I told her no, we’ve started week 3 and she looked at me all weird and pulled out her agenda and told me no, look, you only have 2 more weeks. I kinda had a mini freak out... in Burger King... haha so yeah, I have a feeling that it’s going to be an emotional filled couple of weeks for me... but I’m enjoying them here for as long as I can!

Not really much to tell you guys from this week. We worked really hard to pull up the numbers bc of being sick we haven’t worked that much. From last week, I say we did pretty good bc we doubled basically everything. The cool thing is the familia Bacab that I told y’all about, THEY ALL CAME TO CHURCH YESTERDAY!!!!! But only 3 are progressing bc the other son in the beginning didn’t want to talk to us, but now he’s become interested and he came to church for the first time yesterday!! Now all we need to do is get them married and then baptized, and we have the goal set for my last Saturday in the mission so we’ve got a lot of work ahead of us these next couple of weeks.

so the only thing really interesting that happened this week is Sunday my comp was feeling pretty exhausted, but we just thought that it was bc she had done divisions the day b4 and was just tired. Sunday morning I wake up and she’s already awake but still in her hammock. She then tells me that she’s in a lot of pain and she could hardly move bc her back and chest hurt a lot. Ah, it was pretty scary, but in the end everything worked out just fine. We called the Mission President’s wife and she sent us to Mérida. We had to travel that morning for like an hr and a half and then go to the hospital where they checked her out. We stayed Sunday night with 2 other sisters here in Mérida (that was fun bc that means sleepover!!!) and today we spent it resting and then we had to go back to the hospital for a dr. appt she had today in the afternoon which is why we are writing so late... so yeah, it was a little bit of an adventure this weekend :)

We are hoping to enter into this week with energy and hardworking attitudes and that we can just give it our all and reactivate this little town!!!

Love y’all soo much and can’t wait to see y’all soo soon!!!!

Week 75: 3 More Weeks.... and Counting!

This week was pretty good, we worked hard getting to know the ppl in Maxcanu all of the less actives and the actives (there’s only a few that are really active... which is the sad part...)

This week we had interviews with President... well my companion did. I didn’t bc on my last Monday (or the last Monday I have b4 I come back home) is when I’m going to have my last interview and a blessing from him, so that’s why I didn’t have an interview this time bc I’m going to be interviewed in like 3 weeks.

3 weeks???!!!! That sounds soooo crazy right??? Sometimes I can’t even believe it myself. The time is just flying by wayyyy too fast. And it’s kinda sad that I only get one transfer to get to know the ppl of Maxcanu and to work here. I think that’s one of the hardest things for me to be here bc I already love this little town and even more, all the members soo much. We are such a small group of faithful members and it’s going to be sooo hard to leave them behind and go back home after this humbling experience that I’m having. And even though I know it’s going to hurt when I leave and be super hard, I’m trying to give my best and love them with everything.

Our first week here we found a family of 4 that are soo ready to get to know the gospel. They are called the family Bacab. It’s a mom, dad, and their 2 sons. They are suuuuppppeeeerrrrrr duper humble in everything. In the way they talk, in the way they live, in their work, and their materials. They are a family that truly knows how to be poor AND humble. You can be poor in material things in life, but not humble unto God but this family just gets it. They accepted baptism for the last Saturday that I’m going to be here so I’m pretty excited to see them. They came to the conference and then the next week they weren’t able to come, but that was mainly bc we were both sick that week and weren’t able to visit them. But this week we visited them and they came to church yesterday!!! The dad normally should work on Sundays but he told us that for the blessings that he has seen since they started listening to us (in just this short period of time) he said that he is willing to stop working on Sunday to be able to go to church and to see if he can work extra hours during the week to make up for the money lost that he would be gaining on Sundays. He was true to his word. They all came to church!!! Hna. Castro and I were super excited and the branch is excited to see missionary work coming along here.

Last night Hna. Castro and I taught our first lesson in the program that the church has of being self-reliant to some members that are looking to start their own business. Neither one of us have ever taught one of these classes nor have we dealt with the program, but the class went really good. I learned a lot of stuff of what it actually means to be self-reliant temporally, AND spiritually.

And yeah, that was my week!!! Hope y’all are connected and that I’ll be able to talk to ya guys.

Love you all soo much!!! Give all my love to the family and I can’t wait to see your smiling faces when I get back home!!!

Pics of this week coming soon!

Week 74: LESS THAN A MONTH!!!

Hey guys!!!!! Sorry this letter is going to be like the shortest y’all have ever received from me, but this week, we literally did nothing.

I’ll tell y’all how it went. so Monday as you know we got back from Campeche and then Tuesday we worked like normal but I noticed in my companion Hna Castro that she didn’t have all that much energy and wasn’t walking as fast but we both just thought that it was from our trip to Campeche. Then at night Tuesday, she said that she was cold and I was like, what??!!! Naw man, it’s still really hot outside, (even without the sun, sad I know) but its bc she was running a fever and then she told me that her body had started to hurt. so I took her back to the house early at like 8pm and she went straight to bed and I stayed up that night checking her temp every 2 hrs and putting cold rags on her to keep it down. Long story short, she got Chikungunya what I had like almost a month ago. And so all day she was pretty bad. But then y’all are not going to believe what happened. I GOT IT AGAIN. Not as bad but it started Friday night and then Saturday I had a fever all day and then Sunday I was all good with just some pain in my body. Definitely not as bad as what I had the first time, but it still sucks!! But the dr’s say that supposedly it’s normal. That it’s what this sickness does. That it can come and go randomly bc it stays in your body for up to like 6 months!!! Crazy right!! But I’ll tell y’all more about this amazing Mexican sickness when I’m home in a month, haha. But just know that everything is good and that we are recovering perfectly and plan on working hard this week with less actives and investigators. And we are soo ready to do so bc it’s been a hard week just staying in the house for a whole week!!!

And bad news... bc we stayed in house all week... I didn’t take any fotos... sorry!!! But I promise that this next week I’ll take plenty so that y’all can get to know Maxcanu!! And my companion haha

And so yeah, I got my flight plans this week!!!! yayyyyy!!! To tell y’all the truth, im super excited!!! And man, do I get home late that night. It’s going to be a long day of travel but I’ve been thinking if I should call y’all during my layovers or just be patient and wait to talk to y’all when I get home... what do y’all think?

Well yah, that’s just about it this week!!! I love y’all soo much and I’m happy to hear that things are going great back home!!!!

Week 73: No Letter but there are pictures

Hannah didn't have time to write a letter but was able to upload pictures of a trip they made to the Gulf of Mexico.
