Week 18: transfers... :´(

Yeah, I had transfers today. So like I said in my letter home last week, President had called Hna Smith and I and long story short, he told us that we would be staying in Izamal together for one more transfer. and I was super excited bc we were finally having progress with our investigators and our members and we have all these activities planned with our ward and we were going to celebrate her bday together on the 24, and yeah, just pretty much work our butts off to get a baptism this transfer. Well, our district leader calls at like 11 last night and tells us that Hna Smith is being transferred and that I’m staying in Izamal. At first we thought he was kidding, but yeah, he wasn't. So yeah, I cried nearly all last night. I mean, I’m happy that I’m staying in Izamal, but I’m soo sad that I had to say good bye to Hna Smith. She means so much to me, and honestly, these past 12 weeks seemed like I would be saying with her forever. But sadly, transfers happen. So yeah, I said good bye to her this morning and we have plans to meet up after the mish. But I’ll just tell you, it was really, really hard to see her go. She was with me through my hardest weeks here and I don’t know, we just clicked really well and we had a routine going and bam. Gone. Now I have to start over with a new companion.

Speaking of my new companion, she’s super cute and really nice. But the problem is, she doesn't speak a lick of English. She knows like two words: hello and goodbye. Yeah.  I guess I shouldn't say it’s a problem, bc really, it’s a blessing. I've known for a while that I need a Latino companion that doesn't speak English, but that doesn't mean that I want one. But I know that having her as my companion is going to help my Spanish 100%. To be honest, Hna Smith and I didn't talk in Spanish as much as we should have. I’m paying for it now, but I know Heavenly Father will bless me with the ability to communicate with my companion. Her name is Hermana Gutierrez (goo-tee-air-ez) and she’s from Guadalajara. (I think that’s how it’s spelled...) she’s 19, like me and likes to play basketball, which is really funny because she’s like 5 foot nothing. I’ll send pics later.
Well, this week went pretty great. The members are starting to work more with us, which is perfect, bc before they hardly worked with us. The church building is still under construction, and all the buildings here at still yellow ;)

This past Saturday we had a Noche de Talentes (talent show) with the ward and we had 2 investigators come! It was soo cute and soo cool. Some of the girls salsa danced and some of the women in Relief Society did a folk/culture/traditional dance. It was soo good and soo cute!! And then a good handful of people sang and then they wanted Hna Smith and I to come up and sing, so we sang some hymns to the beat of the cup song from pitch perfect bc Hna Smith knows how to do it. It was pretty cool, not going to lie.

Oh, random fact, Hna Frost, my companion from the MTC is now in my district. Crazy right?

Well, I’m going to send some pics now. Love you all and thanks for everything you do for me!

con amor de su hermana favorita,

Hermana Perryman

Saturday we had a special conference with the Area 70 for this mission and i got to see Hna Kite again! Believe it or not, i actually straightened my hair that day. but the humidity made it go all crazy.

Translation failure of the week. Yeah, i just don't even understand what happened here.

This is Hna. Gutierrez. She's super cute and really tiny. and this was my first time in a moto taxi. They are these super cute motorcycles with like a little bench and covering attached to the back. They are so much fun to ride in

My last pic with Hna Smith as my trainer. It was a sad morning. and a really sad night last night.

This is from the folk/traditional dance the the Relief Society did. Their outfits were to die for! They were so cute.
